continual shutting down
      #338128 - Thu Mar 15 2007 04:38 PM

Hi
After reading as many posts I think I am looking at a hard drive problem.
I'm not quite sure. The posts were slightly different to my problem so hope there's hope for me.
Over the last week the computer just sudenly restarts and then goes into about 3 or 4 diskchqs. If i cancel it goes back to windows, it works for an hour maybe before going through it all again. I am also locked out of my wireless router which has happened about the same time I can not get to the routers address as it keeps comming back saying protected I do not think the two are connected I don't know.
here's hoping one of you kind people can help
thanks

Try to get the computer to give you a stop code:

Right-click My Computer > Properties > Advanced tab.

Click the Settings button underneath Startup and recovery.

Remove the tick next to Automatically restart, underneath system failure.

If it happens again, you should get a blue screen. Write down the stop code eg 0x0000008e.

In the meantime, run diskchecking:

Start > Run.

Type chkdsk /r (note the space) and press Enter.

Let it finish the scan and it should tell you if it's corrected any errors.

OK OK I can't go any faster! aaaaaaaaaaaagh!

Thank you RichieP
Things seem Ok for a day now.
Any thoughts on how to get past protected reply when I try to get into my router page when using 192.168.1.1.

Not sure what you mean by "protected reply"

I assume you're trying to access your router configuration pages? What's the make and model of the router?
