External hard drive woes
      #338007 - Wed Mar 14 2007 07:04 PM

Hi folks,
I'd be most grateful if someone could offer me advice.
I recently bought a packard bell 2500 external hard drive.
It has allowed me to back up data once, but when i have since tried to back up it flags the error 'invalid argument to date encode'.
What can i do?
Thank you in advance...
Tony

I assume this is a software error?

Check you have the latest version of the software that you use to create the backups with.

Thanks for that, just to check can you find out what file system your hard drive is using, whether it is NTFS or FAT32?

To find out, open MY COMPUTER and right click on C drive and under the General Tab you will see Type then File System.

The only things that I can suggest, is look at the Packard Bell site and see if there are any software updates.

Failing that uninstall the program and try again, following the guide from the site
