I have just installed Adobe Reader version 8 and have a problem with it. When I click on the scroll bar to scroll down a page, I get the same page superimposed on the page that I was looking at and if I touch the scroll bar again, the same thing happens so that I can end up with a half a dozen versions of the same page all superimposed on each other but overlapping so that they are impossible to read.
Anyone else have a similar problem and if so, have you cured it?

Have you considered ditching Adobe Reader and using the free Foxit Reader instead?
It's a whole lot smaller, doesn't take over your computer, works and is easy to use. I've never even bothered installing Adobe on this machine, just used Foxit instead. Will save you a whole lot of trouble.

That sounds like a good idea and I will give it a try. I only upgraded to version 8 of Adobe because I understand that you can create PDF files with it.
Anyway, thanks for the tip

Think the link was wrong in last post. Try This.
Foxit do a pdf creator, but not in the free version. I've always hated the size and slowness of the adobe reader though so was glad to get shut of it.

Hi Nerval, I have downloaded Foxit and it seems very good. It loads very quickly unlike Adobe Reader, and hasn't put mysterious things in my startup folder like Adobe did. Thanks for the link

Great stuff. You won't regret it. You can set it as default pdf reader. If you uninstall Adobe though, I'd run C Cleaner and tell it to "resolve any issues" so that it will take out any pointers and entries that adobe's left lying about - and delete the Adobe folder in Program Files too.
If you don't know it, C Cleaner is a brilliant little program - great at tidying up and clearing out dead information. I run it several times a day.

I haven't had any problems with Adobe Reader 8 and I know that Foxit is an excellent alternative. I don't know if you use Firefox, but some people have had difficulty reading PDF files if they use Foxit instead of Adobe Reader. I don't suppose this applies to everyone who uses Foxit, but I thought it was worth mentioning in case you're a FF user.

Thanks for all your info. Nerval.
I have uninstalled Adobe 8 and just to be certain that all traces of it have been removed I ran REGEDIT and removed all references to Adobe from the registry and then removed all Adobe folders. I expect I will now be asking for help on how to boot the machine when it fails to boot next time.
I used CCleaner to get rid of unwanted files and 'resolve issues' but it only found two issues

Hi Madeline I use FF and Foxit with no problems. Foxit is just so much less demanding.

Actually, I have thought about dumping Adobe Reader and getting Foxit, but as I haven't had any problems with Adobe, I decided to leave it until either I have trouble with Adobe or I get short of disk space. I mentioned possible difficulties with Foxit and Firefox because I'd seen posts about this on the Firefox forums, although that doesn't mean that everyone using Foxit will experience them.
