You will need to install your sound chip drivers, do you know the make and model of your sound chip/card?

If you're accessing the internet via an alternate machine use that to download the driver, then copy the file onto the Laptop and install it that way then.

To find out the make and model of your sound card, download and install SIW from my signature. This is a tool that tells you everything that goes on inside your PC. You will need to install SIW onto your laptop for it to check the laptops hardware.

Ok that's installed on the laptop, now how do i find out what i need? Sorry about, i'm still learning.

I think it might be ATI SB400 - AC'97 Audio Controller, i dunno, that's the only bit i can find to do with sound?
