Burn to CD/DVD problems
      #337173 - Sat Mar 10 2007 01:32 AM

Hello again to all web users, Recently my laptop has lost its ability to burn
files to CD/DVD. I use Nero 7, cdxp pro, & Deep Burner, and although I can play
back from previously (some time ago) recorded CD's & DVD's, I can't burn discs.
Any answers please ?
System is XP home edition.
Oh yes, and I do start IMAPI.

G'day lanterne_rouge

Have you checked you Event Viewer to see if there are any bad events relating to the CD/DVD when a burn was tryed.
There are a few things that can lead to a none burn.
Have you checked in services that the IMAPI CD burning com service is not disabled on start up or it's failing to start.

Hello again to all Web users,
Problem solved ! Mechanical fault with the laser tracking device in the cd/dvd
drive. The little thing with the laser in it is supposed to move freely from the centre of the hub to the outer edge of the disc. It was sticking during its travel. A few manual moves, and the finest touch of machine oil on the slide rod, and I'm now back to full function on the drive.
Us Brummies know about mechanical things, its in the genes.
