Hello,
I am thinking of purchasing a new DVD+-R/RW dual layer with LightScribe function, in order that I can laser print CD/DVD labels directly on to the disks. I assume from the descriptions in ebay for the DVD R/RW hardware, that the LightScibe software is not included. Would I be right in thinking this, and will I have to buy the LightScribe software separately?
Any information would be appreciated.

Normally the software comes with the Drive, I'd imagine that you're being sold an OEM version.
Therefore, if you haven't got it already then I recommend Nero 7

Before you make a final decision have a look at the costs involved. Light Scribe discs are very expensive and the results aren't that good IMHO. I bought a Canon Pixma i4200 which prints full colour on CDs and I reckon they look a whole lot better.

LightScribe drives often come with software; if not, you can get the LightScribe Simple Labeler for free. It's fairly limited in functionality, though - it only works in Title Mode, which restricts you to a ring of the CD just tall enough for a single row of text. If you're looking for higher quality, I'd suggest the Acoustica LightScribe Software, which has a free trial. It has some nice touches, like being able to change LightScribe modes without having to restart your project and being able to print on multiple LightScribe drives at once.
You'll also need to install the LightScribe System Software before any LightScribe labeling software will work. It's a free download and easy to install.
I agree with the poster who recommends comparing LightScribe with direct-to-disc printers before you buy. You can find the printers for around the same price as external LightScribe drives, at least where I live. And though both inkjet-printable discs and LightScribe discs are more expensive than normal media, the printable discs still seem to be a little cheaper than LightScribe discs. You'll never have to buy ink cartridges for your LightScribe drive, though...
