After you've clicked on Prt Scr, open up Paint, click on Edit, then Paste. The screen shot should then appear. Then click on File>>Save As. I also change screen shots to JPEG before saving them to a folder.

You will need to upload the picture. I use photobucket. It's free and you need to register. When the picture is uploaded, beneath that image it will give you a IMG Code which you copy and paste.
For example, if I copy and paste - but without the space in the first [IMG], it will turn out as

I've never found the Print Screen in Windows very satisfactory, so I use Gadwin PrintScreen which is very easy and straightforward to use. PhotoBucket is a good image hosting site, although I use ImageShack. You can get information and download links for free image hosting sites here.

Yes Madeline, excellent programme if suggested as an alternative. I used Screen Hunter for years, another excellent programme. However the inbuilt printscreen also works well and is usually adequate for most people. Forgive me if I'm wrong but wasn't that what the original poster enquired about.

You're very welcome. I could never do screenshots properly until I got Gadwin.

Yes, it was, but is there a problem with suggesting an alternative? He, or anyone reading this, may not even be aware that there are alternatives. I don't particularly like Paint either. A feature of Gadwin that I particularly like is that you have the option to set it to "Capture Mouse Cursor" which is often very useful. I never found out how, or even if it's possible, to do this with Print Screen. Do you know anything about this?

No problem at all when it is an alternative suggestion instead of what appears to be a correction to an another users post.

Sorry Joe, I didn't intend it to appear to be a correction, but an alternative. I must have worded my post badly, the written word doesn't always convey the intended meaning, unfortunately.

You're right Madeline and we've all done it I'm sure. I just feel the efforts of the first responder should be but isn't always fully appreciated in many of these threads. Still no harm done.

That's very often true, I think. I'd struggled with Print Screen before I ever came to this site and it was here that I found out about Gadwin. It had clear instructions and help, so I've been using it ever since.

Looks like the OP was satisfied with the response above and hasn't replied any further other than at Sat Mar 03 2007 02:43 PM, I think we should lock this thread.
