Can anyone provide this please.
I am trying to reinstall because it will not work so I thought I'd start from scratch. Can't remove it - I keep being told that I've got a newer version installed despite deleting all files, going into the registry and deleting qttask.exe and other files etc etc etc. Done lots of web searches, tried loads of different methods but still can't get rid of the bugger!
Can someone give me a definitive method please?

Look at the following thread, especially towards the end, I use ccleaner regularly and the Microsoft msi cleanup tool works as well.

Good luck.

You could try QuickTime Alternative once you've uninstalled QuickTime. It's mentioned in the thread linked to above, it will do anything that QuickTime does and it's much lighter on resources. QuickTime Alternative

Quicktime player comes bundled with iTunes & iPod (there has just been another update from Apple to make things compatable with Vista- so everyone needs the latest version). It's also worth upgrading to Quicktime 'Pro' for the extra functions, but doesn't cost much. The download is quite large, at about 36Mb so you must have Broadband to do this properly, and will install without a hitch while removing any previous version you may have. You can't disable any part of the iTunes package without affecting the remainder- who would want to- it's by far the best of the media players, and has been successfully adapted for Windows. Quicktime may seem a little slow by comparison, but is unique in playing movie files (ie. film trailers). If it won't uninstall by normal means (add & remove programs in Control panel, or Quicktime 'uninstall' from the start menu) try re-installing the original file, which may overwrite, and thus repair any damage. As a last resort- delete manually from 'C'/ programs, but you will need to repair the Registry with CCleaner, EasyCleaner, SystemWorks, or Uniblue Registry booster. Don't give up!

Welcome to the forum but I have to disagree with some of you comments about QuickTime. It is cumbersome, awkward to use and intrusive. It certainly isn't unique. Real Player and Windows Media Player can do all that QT can do, and sometimes a whole lot better. That fact that it can't be uninstalled in any normal way makes it totally unacceptable. You shouldn't need to go to those lengths for any piece of software. If iTunes comes with all that excess baggage then it has a major problem.
