Not Can Boot
      #335178 - Tue Feb 27 2007 06:42 PM

This looks pretty terminal; on my lad's computer.

It won't boot. It loads the Windows XP screen, with the blue bar, switches itself off for the Acer screen, which loads, then on to the XP screen and round and round in an endless circle.

Have tried F8 and rebooting into safe mode- it won't have it. We get all the lines lines of script, but then it goes off on its endless circle again as above.

Tried reverting to last known config that worked. Same result.

Anybody any clues, or is it as bad as it looks?

Yes, though not the one which came with this particular laptop. Have got the one which came with my own PC. Will that be OK? I have the product key.

Follow the instructions here to carry out a repair installation of XP.

You need to have the same version, ie XP Home or Pro.

When it asks for the product key, enter the key of the computer you are repairing.

Once it's finished, you will need to go to MS Update and apply all updates.
