My computer wont start up properly.........it gets to the Microsoft Windows XP logo part then cuts out and then starts at the beginning and cutting out at exactly the same place. I've tried selecting the "last known settings that worked" but that does't make any difference.
I took it to my computer repair guy last night and he said it was probably a hard drive problem and all my data would be lost. He then suggested I put the recovery cd in if I still had it.
This morning I inserted the recovery cd and it has reinstalled Windows XP and seems to be working ok. But what about all my data? Is it lost forever or still in there??
Why Oh why do these people give out incorrect informaton? There's a chance you could have recovered your data relatively easily, even with a damaged hard drive.
If you're lucky, you mught be able to recover your data using something like restoration but the chances are it's been overwritten.
Good luck.
