I've been playing around with a free tripod account I have. I successfully uploaded one webpage named index.html and associated photos. Then I did some more and ended up with two pages. I changed my site around so that the new page I made was the index page and the index page I originally uploaded, I changed the name. (This is difficult to explain in a way that makes sense)Anyway I uploaded it all and ended up with two index pages (even though I set it to replace old files with new). This meant that the url still pointed to the original index page, so I deleted it. Now I've ended up with my website just showing all the files. It won't work and I'm getting really frustrated now. To show you what I mean please go to [URL removed by request]. Please ignore the content of the site. It wasn't intended for public consumption and I just wrote any old rubbish. I see so many home made sites that end up as just a bunch of files. I think deleting the first index file was perhaps a bad idea. Can anyone tell me how to correct it all.

Try it with a lower case 'i', for index.
Best practise; keep all file naming lower case.

I'm guessing here, but could it be that you've used a capital 'I' in Index.html.
Try changing it to a little 'i', index html and see if that makes any difference.
edit* Sorry about that, great minds....

Aww I'm so stupid. I've racked my brains out all day trying to work out why one index page would be different from the other (obviously my original index page was a small i). Not tried it yet but it sounds like that will be the answer. Thanks so much for that.

I wouldn't say 'stupid'. We all make mistakes, and learn from them. The trick is to learn from the mistakes of others, whenever possible.

It worked. Its all working fine now. Its not the only file where I've done that, will have to try to get out of the habit of capitalising things. As you're a forum administrator (Fat Controller) I don't suppose you could delete the url out of my original post now the problems solved. I tried to edit it but I'm too late to do that now. Its just that the site is experimental at the moment, just something to play around with and I don't really want everyone looking at it now as its not very good by any means. Thank you both for your help.

No worries, URL removed. Glad you're sorted.
