Dodgy domain registration dealings?
      #331696 - Sat Feb 10 2007 10:11 AM

Hi everyone wonder if anyone has experienced problems whilst registering a domain name. Went on streamline.net to register domains sporttalbot.co.uk & com but someone beat me by minutes to the .com domain. I suspect dodgy dealings somewhere along the lines. the .com domain was registered by 'tucows inc' literally minutes before I registered the .co.uk domain. I tried to register both domains and the .com hadn't come up as sold. I went through registering and paying for it but then received an email to say it had gone.My site is already up and running and will only be of interest to people from Port Talbot. It's under construction needing content but is hosted on a free basis ending with 'btik.com' Does anyone think that something untoward has gone on? I've also signed up with statcounter and after I'd tried to register the .com I noticed that I had a new unique visitor, which is weird because no one knows about the site!

i use streamline.net but i can't say i have noticed anything, doesn't mean of course that you are wrong!

I do find it very annoying that several of the sites i wanted have already been registered but are just parked somewhere!!

Seeing as they're both registered in the same name, I'd suspect an administrative error. Leave it a few days and see what happens.

In the event that someone contacts you with a view to selling the .com version for more than the basic price, decline the offer and keep checking the status in case "kiting" is involved.

I once did a search for a domain name and then thought about it for a day, went back the next day and someone else had registered it and was selling it for $2000

Now if I check a domain, I buy it immediately!
