Torrents usually come as Divx (.avi) and need conversion to DVD format before you can burn them to DVD - assuming you want to watch them on a standard DVD player which does not support Divx.
Nero is as good as any for burning, and does the conversion too, albeit slowly. WinAVI is about the fastest converter I've come across - something like half real time, depending on your PC, so a one hour program would take 30 minutes to convert, plus burning time of five minutes or so. In that case you would convert to DVD using WinAVI, then burn using Nero which is the way I do it.
If your DVD player supports .avi. then you can burn them without conversion which is a lot quicker.
Another alternative you may want to consider is that some MP3/4 players can be plugged into the TV and play .avi files directly. This means there is no conversion or DVD burning, just drag and drop on to the device. I have a Cowon A2 which does this, so I tend not to bother burning things to DVD nowadays.

Before I delete this thread can you assure me that these downloads are legal and do not consist of copyright material?

Do you know that we're all in line for succession to the throne? Really?
Well, if forty-eight million, two hundred thousand, seven hundred and one people died I'd be Queen.
