forgive my ignorance on this subject, as a complete novice I should like to know, " I am on broadband and are buying a webcam + mic but am also getting a 2nd with it and am giving it to my friend so we can keep in touch better, BUT he is not on broadband, so, can he still use a webcam or not ? thanks

Hello ceannev. I'm not too well up on this sort of thing, never having used a webcam, but I'd imagine the image would be rather jerky on a dial-up connection. I'm sure it will work, but BB to BB would be a lot better.
It would probably pay you to re-post in "Reader helps Reader, All other topics", where I'm sure someone will be better able to advise you.

i thinkl you'll find that you have limited success with dial up, even with BB the picture is not that great. do you have to have the picture? if not i suggest you both d/load and install msn messenger and you can have a "voice" conversation which would be more successful.

Hi ceannev. My son's on dial up and some of his friends are on BB, and their webcam and voice chats work ok together.
Never put off till tomorrow what you can avoid all together

If you do use the webcam, you can also add voice conversation to this with MSN Messenger. So you'll be able to see each other while talking. That way you will be able to communicate one way or another.
