Hello, not being up on such things I thought I'd ask those in the know about the above. Hopefully within the next few months I'm getting a computer built which will be used for the usual stuff such as email and internet, but also video editing and games. I have a spec. from the shop and the chap suggested a ATI All in Wonder X1900 256Mb card which has a built in TV tuner. Whilst I'm not in doubt that it's a good card, I'd rather have a Hauppauge WinTV Nova-T-500 TV card installed which has twin TV tuner. This would obviously negate the need for a graphics card with a built in tuner. So, does anyone have any recommendations as to a really good graphics card that will be able to handle with ease the tasks mentioned earlier? Cheers. Glynn.

What's your budget for the card?

Round about the £200 mark. Could go a bit higher if the benefits were worth it. To suit my video editing, it would need a firewire port which most of them will have anyway.

Take a look at this site for some reviews
My preference is nVidia, however ATi have come on in leaps and bounds.
If you can squeeze your budget to get a DX10 card, then it will be worth while if you're serious about gaming.

Well, I was going to buy the parts online then get the guy at the shop to build it, but I think I'll let him get most if not all of the parts and then put it together. The reason is, for example, if the motherboard packs up and I've supplied it, it's down to me to get it fixed which would entail going back to the shop and getting them to remove it and then for me to sent it off back to where I purchased it (I only use them!). If he sources the parts, yes, it costs more but if anything packs up, it's up to him to get it sorted. Also, if I source all the parts, I've still got to pay the guy to put it together. At the end of the day, it's probably costing more to let him source the parts, but it'll be far less hassle if something goes wrong.

Cool, yes I see your point and it's a valid one.
Good luck in your new PC and I hope you get all what you want! Let us know the spec when it's sorted

Thanks. Will do. I'm waiting for Visa to come out first so it will be sometime after that.
