coverting avi files problem
      #324661 - Fri Jan 05 2007 08:37 AM

For some time now I have experienced difficulties when trying to convert avi files to dvd for burning to disc. I've tried a variety of software, including super dvd and nero, with mostly the same result. The conversion starts OK and then the software stalls and says it has encountered a problem and had to close. I've checked the source files using AVI medic, which tells me the file is OK, and it plays fine on the PC, so what is going wrong.

This is really starting to bug me now so any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

What software are you running to convert the DVD with? What format is it currently?

Sorry for the delay - didn't realise post had been moved. Anyway, as to the format, the files are avi from torrent downloads(is that what you meant?), I usually try to use Super DVD Creator first, I'm pretty sure I've used Nero in the past, and I've recently tried winavi video converter. In all cases if the process starts it either causes the application to stop with an error message, or the computer freezes and I have to reboot. The video file is not faulty in itself, I've checked that, and plays fine on the PC, just won't convert to another format.

Sorry there but I cannot offer further help

Web User recommends avoiding illegal file sharing for the following reasons:

Sharing of copyrighted material is illegal
You may get sued – others have
Many file sharing programs contain spyware
Files on these services can be poor quality and wrongly named
