hello am with bt home hub 8mb opi 3 i want to change my broadband right now geting rubbish speed like 0.2mb-2.0mb connetion speed want 2 change 2 better broadband i was going go redren broadband but they reply back 2 my email saying this Hi, Although your local Broadband exchange supports up to 8MB, the speed you receive is dependant on your distance from the exchange. As you're only able to obtain speeds of 1.5MB, it appears that you are several mile away from the exchange. The only way this can be improved, is by the exchange being upgraded. BT will begin upgrading the exchanges from April next year - they will then be able to support speeds of 24MB. Once this happens, you'll probably manage a download speed of about 4/5MB.i live north east london leyton so does anyone know good isp that give u good speed were i live
Changing your broadband ISP won't get you anywhere. They will all still use the same telephone line to connect and as you've been told that your line won't support any higher speed that's as good as it gets. In any case, you aren't paying for an 8mb connection it's UP TO 8mb. That can mean anything from 512kb upwards.
I get these speeds from a 1Mb connection, I sometimes do tests on ISPs sites to see what they say one ISP said I could get up to 1.9Mb speed but my present ISP says I can only get a 512K connection I have a 1Mb speed my old ISP kept changing its mind on the fastest connection I could get and I wasn't going to pay them £20 to get a faster speed then be told that I couldn't.
