Hi
Quick question. When viewing folders in XP, my computer does not display the most up to date view of the folder (eg when creating a new folder) without me pressing F5. Why is this? Its irritating me.
Cheers

It's normal, i.e. a new folder appears as the last item.
If you didn't refresh (F5) but just closed the folder, the next time you look it will be in the sequence you selected, e.g. name, size, etc.

No its not normal because its only just started happening. I create a new folder and its not visible until I refresh, it should be just there as soon as I create it.

Oh, I thought you meant it didn't appear in the correct sequence.
You're correct in stating that it should appear and you should be able to access it immediately.
I can think of two scenarios :- 1. You've 'caught' something. 2. Explorer has been corrupted, in which case try repairing the system files, Start, Run and type “sfc /scannow” (not the quotes but the space) and have your WinXP CD ready to put in the drive, should it be wanted. It will take quite some time. If the main Windows set-up screen appears from the CD and covers the progress bar, just close it. SFC will exit with no closing dialogue. To see which files, if any, were replaced look in Event Viewer. If SFC doesn’t work, the RPC locator service needs to be started in Start, All Programs, Administrative Tools, Services.
