Boot ini files missing

Hi would you please tell me how to fix this problem i seem to be having.
When i start up my comp it states i have missing boot ini files.
When i go to msconfig there should be a boot ini files tab but its just vanished.
My kids have done something i'm sure.
Any help would be greatly apprecitaed.
