One of these and one of these.

Thanks for the link are they compatible with all motherboards?or doesn't that matter?
and is it a matter of just plugging them in and letting windows configure them?

They are standard PCI, so providing you have some PCI slots spare on your motherboard, then yes, they will fit. They should both be plug in and Windows should do the rest, you may need to install drivers, but it shouldn't be too much trouble. I recently added a Ethernet card to my PC and it only took about 10 mins before I was using it.

You will have to open up the case anyway to insert your new cards. I doubt very much that your existing USB sockets are on a card. Much more likely to be built into the motherboard which means you can't upgrade them to 2.0. They will continue to operate 1.1.

I have followed your advice and installed both cards.both seemed to install with no problem but when i plug anything into the new usb card it tells me usb device not recognized. one of the usb devices installed has malfunctioned and windows does not recognize it.but if i plug it into the usb port already installed on my pc it works ok.i have had a look in device manager and it informs me everything is working ok.there were no drivers with the card would this be correct?any ideas?thanks

In Device Manager under Universal Serial Bus controllers, do you have an Enhanced USB Controller?

Just a thought but i installed both cards together could this be a problem even though windows informed me both cards were installed successfully?

Shouldn't make any difference. Do ALL your USB devices fail in the new card? You might want to try deleting it through Control Panel and let Windows re-install it after a reboot. If it still doesn't work it might be time to return it to the supplier.
