Hope you all had a good christmas and feel stuffed as a Turkey lol .
Well a friend of mine asked if it was possible to change icons on his pc, i told him that there is a wide range of software he could get but all he wants to change is the default CD-ROM & DVD-ROM Drive icons on his pc. Usually you can change icons by their properties and change them in the shell.dll file on the system folder. However this option is not available on My Computer icons as when you load a disk to either of these drives the relevant manufacturers disk icon appears.
Is there any way you can change the default icons on my computer through the registry or by any other means without having to change all the icons on the pc and change it to one of the icons in the shell file.
Hope you are enjoying the festive season. As regarding your link to regexplor i find my self unable to locate the file path HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Icons. Would i have to create a new Key with a string value to the table listed on the site??
Do you have the icon located on the hard drive, and if so what is the pathe name of the icon (eg c:\Windows\system32\file.ico)?
