Video Effect
      #311263 - Sun Oct 22 2006 10:05 PM

Hi,

I'm looking for how to do the following effect. There is a car advert and little toys are running in a real enviroment with humans and driving cars and shouting "Come On", I don't know if any of you know what i'm talking about but I was wondering how they make the toys move and interact with the humans any ideas or need me to explain better, ask. Thanks

I suspect it's CGI for the 'toys', film/HD video for the 'real world' footage and digitally composited in post production.

If you have a spare couple of hundred grand you might be able to knock something up to that standard.

Spot on TFC!!!!!

You could always do a nice CSO effect if you wanted to play around at home though. Depending on what software you are using, you could film puppets against a blue screen and then overlay them into live action.

OR...how about building massive scale models and then dressing up your mates as little cartoon people so they look tiny

OR, go for the 'puppet on fishing wire' trick.

OR, just don't try as it's a pretty duff advert anyway and Vauxhall's ad strategy is all ove the place!
