I'm a newbie, sorry to come straight in with a rant but the reason I've started looking at webuser is because I think I'm going to have to change hosts hassle...
My client emailed me to tell me that links to his site were not working. I checked and it was taking over a minute to render each page. Not the first time this has happened. Here is my response to the client. Have a read. If you enjoy writing these sorts of emails to your clients then I can recommend 1&1 otherwise you might want to steer clear
Dear XXXXXXX,
I'm writing to you because I can't sleep - because I think I've screwed up and I'm really sorry. You've just highlighted a problem that I'd just noticed. The links are fine. The problem is on the web server. I think I've been sold a pup by 1&1 and I'm ever so sorry. I went with them because I wanted to get the web hosting for website and email all with one hosting company, not dependent on your office ISP. It's a sensible approach to take but I got the choice of hosting company wrong. 1&1 get great reviews and great press but I've been noticing that on a regular basis the server takes longer and longer to show each page. It's making the site unusable. I've deliberately opted for their Professional package which should very easily cope with hosting your site but that seems to be irrelevant - it's running like a dog. I've emailed tech support and am waiting for their response.
I don't know what to say except for sorry and I will get this fixed. This will not affect your emails which, although with the same provider, are running on their mail servers which seem to work fine.
Apologies for the mess. I have cc'ed this to 1&1 customer services.
Sorry to hear about your experience but with 1and1 this seems more or less normal. I was just checking out some of their reviews here http://www.webhostingjury.com/reviews/1and1
I really can't believe they got that big with all the trouble they have.
