I sold a Lexmark Z55 printer to a friend with the installation disc as you would
expect. But a few days later, he rang me to say that when he installed the operating software for the printer, his laptop crashed and he cannot connect to the internet. Unfortunately I don't have any details about the brand of laptop he has but i think it might be an advent or acer. What I would like to know is, is what I have just described possible?

It's possible.
Has he tried System Restore to a point before installing? Did he install the software first, then connect the printer?
