Looking 4 software 2 join wmv/mpg

Hi
Could anybody recommended a decent video editing software tool. I am looking to join wmv/mpg etc. Free software (without adware) would be good but I dont mind paying for a decent package.
Any help you can offer woould be greatly appreciated

The best you can get for free is already on your computer if you are using Window XP

Go to Start | Programs | Accessories | Windows Movie Maker

Thanks for the reply 'putasolutions' but I must be losing the plot big time.

I have tried Movie Maker and can manage to get my clips into the 'timeline' but when I click on 'Clips' on the toolbar, the 'Combine' option is always greyed out.

Any ideas....
