Not sure if any of you will be able to help me, but I'm about to cry after two days of messing with this.
2 days ago I bought a Motorola L6 phone, safe in the knowledge that I would be able to transfer mp3 tones over for my call and message alerts.
My iMac is old and doesn't have bluetooth enabled, and I don't wish to buy a dongle. So I therefore connected my L6 up via USB to my laptop, running XP. I downloaded Motorola Phone Tools and upgraded to the latest 4.04 version.
It recognises my L6, but won't let me transfer files over in the multimedia studio. I keep getting this "bad request (0x40)" alert. I can transfer mp3 sounds to the "others" folder on my L6, where you can do nothing with it, but not to the "melodies" section.. where you choose your ringtone from.
Why will it not accept mp3? Surely they can't advertise it as having mp3 capabilities, and then it doesn't?
Help please
Mark

It seems to be a common fault with mobile phones that the USB connection to a PC causes problems. I have heard of similar problems with the Nokia Data Suite. I really think that your best bet is to get a Bluetooth dongle for the PC. I use this one which at £6 is cheap enough.

Well, if forty-eight million, two hundred thousand, seven hundred and one people died I'd be Queen.
