Learning web design - which course(s) to take?
      #305153 - Fri Sep 15 2006 05:21 PM

I've developed a taste to learn more web designing, but would like to gain qualifications in this field.

Does anyone have any advice as to which courses/quals to go for?

ICS has courses you can learn yourself online and have them marked by a tutor. Are they any good? Or should I attend a special course in a classroom (like UK IT Training), which I believe is very expensive.

Any suggestion?

Ive been looking at these type of courses:

Web Page Designer
HTML 4.01 Programming
Master CIW Designer

Which path did you decide to take?

To be honest - your probably better just spending x amount of hours with a good html web author and messing around with various layouts and tinkering with the css to see and learn the different things you can and cant do with ccs .

TopStyle is a good css editor although there are others .

IT is one of the rare jobs in life that (pay for postal) paper qualifications are of limited use and its been said that some employers are more interested in seeing what you can or cant do in practical use - i.e. give then the urls of your website to show them your web design skills .

Others on here say the complete opposite of course - but at the end of the day its your money .
