Running XP Home and having problem with AOL dialer. I'm not sure if there are any users of this type on the other side of the pond or GB/UK, but I thought I'd post since I'm at a dead-end in trying to get results in the US and thought posting couldn't hurt. Here it goes. Keep getting: Aoldial.exe-entry_point_not_found (or Aol.exe) "?SetModeTBlockCipher@xprt@@QAEXW4ECipherMode@12@@Z could not be located in the dynamic library xprt5.dll"
Every time I start the computer I get this message in a series of 5-7 centered boxes (X's) in middle of screen as my computer loads all it’s applications and software.
Had been also getting something like: Aoldial dll error "Xprt5.dll could not be found in dynamic library"
Have done everything including de-re-installing (2-3 times) all new AOL software, all Beta editions, and deleting folders as well as anything with "AOL" in it, and sent to recycler, cleared caches and all temps, disk clean, and defragmented, as well as virus/spyware/ad-aware and CC Cleaner to no avail. Also attempted system restore several times and last good configuration and even XP icon and other fixes/patches and PnP options. Aol chat has given standard rebuild adapter and re-configure and rebuild and delete options, again to no avail.
Everything works as normal as expected, but dialer will not allow to connect to IE only (it's subtabs do not function properly) except for about 2 seconds with modem, and then disconnects. When I go on with AOL, everything is ok though. Any ideas?

Well, after 1 final system tinkering I decided to download AOL Beta ACS 4.6 Connectivity, and miraculously, problem seemed to fix itself. Did system restore to save configuration. Thanks for those that reviewed, but had no solution.

Glad to know you've solved your problem. I couldn't have helped as I don't use AOL, but I didn't want you to think that nobody had looked at your post! Your solution may well help others with a similar problem, so thanks for letting us know how you did it.
Madeline.

Xavier Go to keyword "computercheckup" and download this program It will keep your line on (redials if the connection drops) And runs auto-fix programs if you are having connection issues (AOL 9 only) Just click on the prob from the Help link list. Sometimes this "fix it" pops up without prompting (only time I welcome a pop up) Also check this list off the AOL FAQ's Quote:
Set your reconnection preferences 1.On the AOL Sign-On Screen, choose the location for which you wish to set your reconnect preference, and then click Setup. 2.On the Edit AOL Setup window, click Edit Numbers. 3.On the Edit Location window, click Edit. 4.On the Edit Number (Connection) window, click the Automatically reconnect me and ignore interruptions when using this connection checkbox to select it. 5.Click OK. 6.Click Yes when prompted to change your reconnect settings for all numbers. 7.Click OK. You will now be reconnected automatically whenever your dial-up connection is interrupted.
