Hiya,
Well I had finally got my laptop and desktop computers on my network communicating with eachother and sharing files, however when I try and add the printer to my laptop it says that There is no Driver available and asks me to search for a .INF file?????
I am running a Desktop pc which has a HP PSC 1310 series printer/scanner/copier attached to it via a usb cable. I also have a notebook pc and I run them both on a wireless network using a Linksys Gateway (router/modem).
All I want to do is be able to print via my laptop to the printer attached to my desktop. Surely this is not that hard!!!!! It has taken me quite some time to actually get the computers communicating and now I cant add the printer aaarrggghhh lol.
I can actually identify the printer via my network however when it comes to installing the appropriate driver, like i said I keep getting a message saying cancel or continue and browse for the .INF file.
I would really appreciate some help on this. I have search the internet but to no avail.
I am running Windows XP Home Edition on both laptop and desktop, all are upto date with Service Pack 2 and all current downloads from windows update. Incidentally, when I ran the latest windows update it for want of a better word "wrecked" my sound on my desktop and nothing would come out. I rolled back the driver on the audio settings and it worked again!!!!! Blooming updates eh!!!!!
Thanks again in advance as I am getting really frustrated with what should be quite simple I think.
What am I doing wrong?

Dont worry, I am on Live Chat with HP and have been told that it is not a network printer so they are explaining Printer Sharing or something. Hopefully it will work!!!

Maybe you've got this sorted by now but if not, I found out recently about something that may help. Have a look in Control panel>Network Connections and right click on the LAN connection and select 'Properties'. Check that 'File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks' is ticked on both your desktop and laptop computers. Also, if you open 'Help and Support' from the Start menu, click on 'Index' and scroll down to 'printing', you'll see an entry for 'shared printers - walkthrough: home networking' which may be useful.

Hiya:)
Thankyou for the advice but fortunately I didnt need it.
I ended up actually installing the printer software onto my notebook which installed the correct driver!! I maybe should have tried that from the beginning but I assumed you didnt need the software on every computer you wanted to share a printer with!
Oh well, atleast its sorted now and I can now print and share files through my wireless network:):):)
Like I said thanks anyway, your help is always appreciated
Peace

You're welcome. I thought you'd probably get it fixed from what you said before, but I thought I'd post just in case you didn't!
