Firstly thanks for any help This is on my 4 year old sons computer
When I move the cursor around the screen. to the top is fine, to the bottom is fine and to the left is fine, but when I move it to the end of the right hand side the cursor seem to keep going out of view. As my son is only getting used to hand and eye coordination with a mouse, this proves some what confusing. Also could it have any thing to do with the resolution, what is the best settings for a 17 inch flat screen monitor.
Many thanks Jeff

I've got a 17" CRT monitor, so it may not be the same for a flat screen one, but this site may be helpful. I've got buttons on my monitor which I can adjust my screen with, is there anything similar on yours? You can change the screen resolution in Control Panel>Display>Settings tab.

Thanks for taking the time to help. I have all ready tried adjusting the monitor, but when my cursor is moved to the far right of the screen it still seems to fall of the end of the world. If I click and drag a large icon I drag it right out of site if I keep going to the right hand side. What really doesn't make sense is the fact that the clock and every thing are in the correct position in the bottom right hand corner. I now have the correct resolution for my screen.
Thanks Jeff

You're welcome. I found this page, it may be helpful to you. One of the things it suggests is to replace or update the video drivers for your video card.

A 4 year olds inquisitive fingers may have altered a setting somewhere. I'd be tempted to do a System Restore to a time before your problem may have started. The results a reversible should it not work for you.
Have a look at this link . . . . > Use System Restore to Undo Changes if Problems Occur .
It's worth a try.
Good luck.

Thank you both
I was on the nvidia site and downloaded the latest driver, it asked me to remove other drivers first and it now works OK. Only thing though is when it restated it ran a wizard for best settings and it thought I had two monitors, it then asked if I wanted display as one big screen or two separate or two showing exactly the same. I chose the option to show two displays the same and it works fine now. Just don't ask me how, lol
Thanks Jeff

That explains things. Your desktop had been expanded by NVidia onto a second (invisible) screen. Very useful if you've got two screens but not a lot of help when you've only got one!
