I've got a Epson Perfection 2400 Photo scanner which has worked fine for ages. Recently though everytime I boot up my PC I get the "detected new hardware Epson 2400" message and it asks for my installation disk - I insert my disk but it fails installation and hence I cant use my scanner anymore !! I've tried uninstalling all Epson software that I can find from my PC, downloading the drivers from the internet etc.. but it all fails. I connected the scanner to my sons laptop and inserted the installation disk when requested and it worked ok - anyone got any ideas please..... ?????
Try this, it worked for me with a problem unrelated to yours:
Navigate to C:\Documents and Settings\your user name\Application Data\EPSON > Delete the Epson folder. Re-install the software.
You'll have to show hidden files and folders This can be done at the point of entering My Computer > Tools > Folder Options > View > Show hidden files and folders.
