New DVD-rw not showing

Hi

I test changed my cd-rw for a dvd rewiter now i cannot see my D or E drives!

Also takes an age now to reboot.

Windows xp home.

Make sure the IDE ribbon cable is fully inserted.

left the thing at the back to master, needed to be slave
