.flv converter
      #300982 - Tue Aug 22 2006 04:17 PM

Please does anybody know of any free software that can convert .flv video files into something more useful, like .avi or .mpeg. (or anything WMP 11 can play)

Thanks a lot

Josh

You're welcome. I'll be interested to know if you find what you want from my links. Enjoy yourself at Leeds, I hope the weather improves for you!

It was amazing, especially Muse, weather was fine until last day where it stormed and flooded our tent! Can't till next year now, Leeds and Glastonbury festivals!!!

Anyway, back on topic..

Unless I am doing something wrong, both of the links that you provided Madeline, lead to the same software, which is only a free trial. Also the links that both computer_geek3000 and player gave are also payed for software. I really want some free software as I have just spent a fortune at Leeds and I still need a new CD player which will set me back more then £300 when I get payed in a couple of weeks.

Please can you tell me if I have misunderstood the links, or if anybody knows of any other programs. Or, if it would be easier, a free .flv player.

Thanks for all your help.

Josh

Josh you can get a free version on the ImToo site!

It will cost you to get the latest version but they allow you to download the previous version for free.

http://www.imtoo.com/downloads/mpeg-encoder-2.exe

EDIT: Glad you had a good time, I love Muse as well, my favourite song of theres is there new single, Starlight.

Thanks computer_geek3000, I downloaded it and it did exactly what was needed, it only decodes 5 minutes of a video, but as I am only downloading things from YouTube and the like it shouldn't be a problem.

I think Time Is Running Out is my favourite, which they played!

Glad you enjoyed Leeds! I was going to suggest the Riva FLV Encoder (the freeware version which you can get by going to their Downloads page). Although it says it converts files to .flv, apparently it can also do the reverse. It sounds as if you've got something suitable though.

I had a look at the link and decided to download the .flv player so now I can convert the videos is needed or I can just play them straight off. Thanks.

You're welcome. I wasn't sure if you'd seen the bit about the free downloads, so I thought I'd mention it!

Greetings!
So Josh what converter you've chosen? I'm very interesting your opinion... I recently looked for flash to video encoder too.

First I thought, that I can find good and free tool. But I was mistaken, unfortunately. At one forum I saw quite good recommendations about programs at geovid. So I click a link. Flash to Video Encoder PRO (prog's name) has worth abilities. I've loaded trial version. Program costs unfortunately. I've understood very quickly it costs this money and has bought it.

Also it was pleasant to me, that it supports many video of formats and allows to add logos to films.

Oh I found my old post.. Cool )
I told here about soft "Flash to Video Encoder PRO". I so doubted coz of
to buy or not to buy... But now I can strongly to say that I made right
decision.
Well I even could make a little money with it. I converted some flash files
for my client. He liked result. I think it says for something

Cheers.
