Having recently installed XP from 2000 I now find that IE becomes inactive after about 5 minutes of non-use, can this period be extended via the settings?

There are no settings that I know of to make IE become inactive in the first place and thus none to extend it. Having just upgraded to XP have you downloaded all available Microsoft updates?

Do you know that we're all in line for succession to the throne? Really?
Well, if forty-eight million, two hundred thousand, seven hundred and one people died I'd be Queen.

Thanks for that, I'll try for the update option!
