Hi all, I have finally found 5 mins to look through issue 141 and tried the "Testing, Testing" feature. I ran the pop-up test and found that Firefox blocks all but drop down pop-ups and sticky pop-ups. Can anyone recommend a good blocker to solve this problem? Thanks in advance Chezza

I'm using Firefox and didn't get any popups at all from any of the tests. There are links on that site where you can download popup blockers, both free and paid-for. Since you're using Firefox, have you got the NoScript extension? I tested the popups you mentioned with the site allowed and then forbidden on NoScript. If I allowed the site, I saw the popups, otherwise I didn't. You can read about and get NoScript here. Madeline.

Thanks Madeline, that seems to have done the trick

You're welcome. Just be aware that NoScript can prevent you from viewing some sites properly. In these cases, click on the NoScript icon and either 'Allow' or 'Temporarily Allow' the site. I allow only the sites which I'm sure are OK. Once, I couldn't log on to a site where I'd recently registered, but it was OK once it had dawned on me to 'Allow' the site on NoScript! Madeline.

I know this thread is a bit old now. But thanks for that link to Noscript. Really useful extension.

You're welcome, but be warned by my post above. I've been caught out a few times by completely forgetting to allow a site on NoScript, although the penny dropped eventually!

Yes, I had to allow Ebay otherwise the page looked a bit funny, also Youtube. Logged onto internet banking and my husbands (Halifax), needed to be allowed, but mine was ok (HSBC) and it ran ok with it blocked.

You may already have discovered this, but if you go to Options on NoScript, under the General tab, you can add sites that are allowed to execute scripts. I think they're added automatically if you allow a site anyway, but not if you temporarily allow it.

I use Firefox and I never have had any problems with pop-ups, it can block everything that annoys me.

I use Firefox and never have any problems with pop ups either. I allow sites as necessary on their pop up blocker. Adblock Plus helps too.

Sorry, Madeline it wasn't a reply to you, actually it was a reply to chezza. I've just pushed the wrong button.
