Back-up Software
      #297891 - Fri Aug 04 2006 05:23 PM

Ok here's the deal, I've ordered a Western Digital 250Gb External Hard Drive - problem is it doesn't come with Back-Up Software which is what I'm primarily going to be using it for.

So suggestions for decent software? Nothing too expensive though - ideally sub £25 if poss...

Do you mean you want to backup stuff on your PC to your new external hard drive? If you've got XP, it includes a backup facility. It's installed by default on XP Pro and you can get it off the installation CD if you've got XP Home. There's a free program which might be useful - WinBackup 1.86

You could also have a look at Paragon Exact Image or Acronis True Image. There's a magazine currently on sale with a cover CD that has Paragon Exact Image 7.0 on it.

True Image is very good software for data backup . To test ATI you can either load trial version or install free ATI 7. But of course ATI 7 doesn't possess the latest features as ATI 9

Sorry to open up an old thread, but I thought it made more sense than to start a new one.

Both WinBackup and Handybackup look pretty good.

I'm interested in being able to encrypt my backups, so was wondering what people who have used these packages thought.

What does Handybackup give me for twenty quid that WinBackup doesn't for nothing?
