Can anyone tell me why when I send an attachment from My documents My pictures or from a scanner in JPEG format thay are received as a .DAT FILE.
The recipiants are unable to open them as they are in three parts.

It could be that your mailer has been setup to break large attachments into smaller pieces. In Outlook Express go to Tools, Accounts, Mail, Properties, Advanced and see what it says in the 'Break apart messages larger than ...' JPEG's can get quite big and that might be the problem.
