PlusNet
      #292156 - Fri Jul 07 2006 04:36 PM

I have been with PlusNet since September Last year as at the beginning of June my internet connection stopped working and I still currently have no internet access using PlusNet and my BT phoneline.

Readers should be aware that PlusNet are migrating people without warning to their new supposedly faster when it works service of upto 8Mb using Tiscali Wholesale services, which currently don't work.

I would recommend to all readers that they left this company alone as they don't have the infrastructure to help sort out problems and won't give you a mac code to migrate either, you end up paying for a service you can't use with no way of getting out of it.

It's really difficult.

I have emailed various magazine editors and plus net customer service and ofcom to look into the problem but as far as I can tell they are just getting away with a service that is less than standard.

Has anyone any ideas of how to move or had the same types of problems with PN?

Hi and welcome to WU.
It's not about PlusNet, but this thread may be of interest to you.

I've reported them to Ofcom, who don't do anything on an individual basis. I have to write a formal complaint letter to Customer Services Director.

More Importantly to other readers looking for a BB supplier. PlusNet are not a member of the ISPA, so they don't have to follow the code of practice for MAC codes as far as I can tell.

I've tried cancelling my account and paying the reconnection fee to my new provider, but I can't get anywhere until they release the line.

I think that line releasing should be a thing that customers can do rather than being held over a barrel by your provider.

If any other ideas come to mind please let me know

Thanks

Ant

Have a look at this thread about the ongoing shenanigans at E7broadband and people's efforts to change providers without a MAC code...

DO NOT SIGN UP FOR PLUSNET

I have had nothing but problems. I too am on the new and "improved" Tiscali upgrade. My service drops out continuously. They won't let me leave, but are not fixing it. They also can not say when it will be fixed, and more over don't really care if it is anyway. ALl the staff are rude and unhelpful, and there is nothing you can do to get out of using them.

THEY ARE A WASTE OF MONEY - DO NOT USE THEM.

I have complained to Ofcom and sent a letter of complaint to them, needless to say they have no responded. I suggest that everyone writes to Ofcom so that they act.
