instaling ram

i want to install 2 1 gig ram sticks but dont know if my pc is compatible or if it can take them.
is there any way to find this info out ?
ie by using a online tool or programme.

You could try downloading this utility . . . . > SIW system information tool then once opened, run the tool and look under Hardware > Memory in the left pane.

This will tell you the maximum capacity of memory and type you can install on that Motherboard along with your current memory installed.

4 sticks of 1Gb each.

If you want to save money, 2 x 1Gb is sufficient for most people, unless you use memory-intensive programs.

ok many thanks now then,wheres best place to get ram from and do i have to get a certain type to be compatible or will any make do ?

When you run the Crucial advisor it gives you the opportunity to buy it. All you need is a credit card.

The easiest way is to take out a stick of RAM, take it to your local computer shop. Show him/her the RAM and ask for the required RAM to be compatible with what they now see!

Not the cheapest way, but often the quickest.

Get Crucial RAM you cant go wrong, I used the crucial RAM advisor and got it from dabs.com next day.
