Installing new graphic card and sound card
      #289022 - Wed Jun 21 2006 06:57 PM

I've just bought a new graphics card and soundcard for my PC.

My motherboard is a K7S41 http://www.asrock.com/Product/K7S41.htm

There looks like there is also a soundcard in one of the PCI slots. Nothing obvious is printed on the card - the card has speaker outputs - but they don't work.

How do I check if it is a soundcard? There is a 'C-Media AC97 Audio Device' indicated in 'Sound and Audio Device'

Also, do I need to uninstall anything before upgarding (to Creative Sound Blaster Audigy SE 7.1 and SAPPHIRE TECHNOLOGY Radeon 9550SE 128 Mb) ?

Your mobo has onboard sound, you will just need to disable it once you've installed your new sound card.

It could well be a sound ca5d. There may be more info on the under side. Take it out and see.

You could uninstall the cards first, but it doesn't really matter. Take them out and follow the instructions to install the new ones.

If your card in the PCI slot is a sound card, there's a good chance it's already been done.

Check by going into the BIOS. Press F2 as your computer starts (there should be a brief message telling you which key to press. Sometimes Del or Esc).

Look for onboard audio and see if it is set to disabled.
