Hi, I've been with powergen internet access for about a year and a half now, and had always been impressed with them, that is until they decided to 'upgrade' their platform about 6 weeks ago. Has been pure hell ever since. I finally got up and running on their new system, until after about 5 days use when I dialled up and automatically a programme update downloaded and I can no longer get online with them. Had an e-mail yesterday telling me they were withdrawing their ISP package by the 21st July. I'm now desperately searching for a new ISP. I was on the evenings and weekends package for £9.99 a month, which gave me form 4pm-8am weekdays and all weekends. I am disabled and cannot afford to pay too much but I NEED a dependable ISP as this is a lifeline for me. Would appriciate your help and advice on this matter. I did see someone mentioned Fast4 and was wondering how good they are. Can you get online more or less first time dialling up or is it often congested, also what are the hours capped at? Sorry for the loooong post! Thanks!
Beth :)

Being disabled myself (which means I can be at home during the day), I can recommend Tiscali Daytime at £4.99 a month for 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday.
I hardly ever fail to get a connection at the first attempt, and usually get connection speeds in the range 40,000 to 45,333 bps. On the rare occasions when it's less than 40,000 I just disconnect and try again.
There's the usual 2 hour cut-off, but it doesn't always happen and it's no trouble getting back on.
Hope that helps.

Why not register, Beth? It doesn't hurt, and you probably realise by now that we don't bite. We're a friendly crowd, and I've certainly learned a lot in my time here. No need to give any more details than you want to.
It's something to think about anyway. No pressure, and I'm not on the staff of Web User.

Hi Beth. I am using Fast4 at the moment. As always in this world you get what you pay for. More often than not it takes a number of attempts to get a connection, and at times I have had to abandon my efforts. Once on however, I experience very few problems, if any at all. The only reason I use this ISP is because it is cheap. As it happens I am seriously considering broadband. Can anybody out there give me there thoughts on Pipex.Net?

I fully understand that Fast4 is offering Broadband for a fee of around £20.00 per month, which I would say is very reasonable, I am on a dialup with Fast4 and have been with them for 16 months and have not had any problems with them, but it is very difficult to connect at certain times of the day, but for a fee of only £39.99 per 6 months it is very cheap
