The first thing is you will not get a receipt unless you request one. To do this in Outlook Express got to Tools|Options|Receipts. Now tick the "Request a receipt check-box". Remember this is a request and its at the discretion of the recipient.

Not sure whether you're accessing your e-mail through OE as you mention your home page but if you wish to do so set it up as follows: -

To set up your Hotmail account in Outlook Express, you'll need to use Outlook Express version 6.
In Outlook Express, click Accounts on the Tools menu.
In the Internet Accounts dialogue box, click Add, and then click Mail.
On the first page of the Internet Connection Wizard, type your full name, and then click Next.
On the Internet E-mail Address page, type your full Hotmail address (name@hotmail.com).
On the E-mail Server Name page, click HTTP in the My incoming mail server is box.
In the box My HTTP service provider is, click Hotmail.
On the Internet Mail Log-on page, type your password.
Click Finish to add your Hotmail account to Outlook Express.

If you are accessing your e-mail direct from the Internet just log on to your particular ISP's Web-Site and then enter your own inbox.

Please come back if I have completely miss-read your post (not unusual) and we'll see if we can help you further.

Joe.
