CD-R Recommendations?
      #284761 - Wed May 31 2006 07:34 PM

Does anybody know which make/s of CD-R will play on the Ford CD players? They will play MP3 files, but Ford state that some CD-R disks will not work. They don't bother to say which won't or which will.

I've tried Mr Data and Maxwell XL-II, neither of which will work.

I just want to take out 1 or 2 Cd's rather than loads when setting off somewhere.

I found this and if it is the case then the only solutions are to use the original disc or replace the CD player with another brand.

I notice that the poster says that Ford designed for commercially pressed disks only. But, in the manual for the car it states that CD-R's will work, but some makes will not work.

Obviously they are not going to state which ones will work without some sort of advertising contract with the maker/s. I've since been told that 'gold' disks definitely will not work.

I've asked my computer shop owner friend to get together a sample pack for me. He can do this quite easily seeing as nearly everyday he's got a salesman pushing freebies onto him.

My lads mate has some of those Datawrite disks, so I'll 'borrow' one of his. If it doesn't work he can have it back.
