you'll find there are some tracks that just won't burn to disc, there is no rhyme or reason for this, i have burned albums and 2 of the tracks didn't burn yet the rest are perfect. must be a glitch in the d/load or format of the track.

THANKS FOR THAT, BUT ONLY FIRST 12 TRACKS RECORD, REGARDLESS OF WHICH TRACK IT IS. TRIED SWAPPING TRACKS AROUND BUT COME UP WITH THE SAME RESULT

which software are you using to burn, check that it is recognising the full size of the disc eg 740mb or whatever size you are using.

Are they being recorded for use on other CD players?
If they are being converted to CDA you will only get so many on a CD. Could it be that your trying to put too many onto the disks and just running out of room? As you add tracks you need to keep an eye on how much room you have left.
About 12 on a disk sounds about right to me.

from the microsoft site :-
This issue occurs when the CD is closed too early due to a buffer underrun. Buffer underruns are more common with audio CDs than with data CDs because audio CDs need to be compatible with a wide range of consumer CD players. To minimize the possibility of this problem occurring, close all other running programs and lower the recording speed.
You may also want to lower the recording speed on your CD-RW drive. To do so, right-click the drive in Windows Explorer, click Properties, click the Recording tab, and then reduce the speed.
hope this helps.

I think he should be able to get more than 12 on a 700Mb disc. I recently got about 20 onto one.

I guess it will depend on the length of each track. I average about 13, but then most of the stuff I burn are quite long tracks, on average about 5-6 minutes each.

That's about right, 70 minutes of audio max. I managed to squeeze all 20 from an LP onto CD the other day.
Microsoft advice to close all programs is worth following. When first using Nero I soon found out the program needs to do the burning without interference. Now I go put the kettle on.
I live in my own little world, but, it's OK, I'm known here.

Hi,
The guide lines, if you are using Nero Audio-Cd copying, is about 10MB per minute of music. This info is from the Nero Handbook, but should be the same for other software. Hope it helps.

Hi, I think there might be an element of track length involved because I've just had a problem recording a whole Cd (first time problem) but it might be that your system is running a little short of memory and will only allow so much. That seemed to be to be the problem with my set up any way. Try again but close everything you don't need to be running at the time of recording, eg, don't be surfing while recording but go and make a coffee and watch telly while the computer does its stuff. Sorry if it doesn't work out but it sorted out my headache! Regards, Steve.

i think the main problem is , the computer has to convert the files from mp3 to wav, it starts off doing this and if the burning is too quick it catches up to where the files are being converted, and this tells the computer that the job is done, if you don't have a high speed processor you must slow down your burn speed.
