When I receive mail in OE, there is an attachment icon even when there is no attachment, any ideas how to fix please.

This is usually because they are sending a message with lots of fancy formatting in it. colors, backgrounds, etc. Outlook stores some information in a file accompanying the email called user.dat. Tell the sender to resend the message as plain text and it should come to you without the paperclip

Outlook and Outlook Express use HTML for rich text formatting, backgrounds etc. This causes the HTML mime-part plus some GIF or JPG attachments to be sent.

Hi Mouse

Only a rookie but I beg to differ, its on all my incoming mail plus mail without anything in it.

I feel pretty sure I have ticked/unticked something, dont know what though.

Thanks for reply though.

Go to Tools, Options, Read, Read All Messages in Plain text. Is that how you have it set up?

Mouse

I think i've solved it by going to tools/options/send(rather than read) and ticked send mail format to plain text.

BUT, could it have an averse affect by sending in plain text?
