I sometimes get the mesage ERROR 1606. could not access network location%userprofile%\favourites\ .Can any one please help as some programs will not uninstall and i cannot get some drivers to install.

When do you get this error message? What are you usually doing when it occurs.

Error 1606. If that doesn't help, try doing a Google search for Error 1606.

My link's to a Microsoft article too and mentions the message above. It also means editing the registry unfortunately, something that I'm never very keen on. But if it's the only way...

Good idea if George has a restore point before this error first appeared. If so, it's certainly worth a try. The restore can be undone if it doesn't work.

have tried system restore it didn't help ,will have to edit registry. Thanks anyway to all who tried to help.

have been working with registry, no luck so far being very cautious, not very familar with computers. will keep u all posted.

Nobody has said this before and I hope it's not to late! You should back up the registry before changing anything and you may have done this. If not, read this Microsoft article. If you have any problems or queries, let us know.
