The "nagulator".......sums it up very well , i'm sure it will be a pain in the a**e. Of course illegal users could avoid it by not downloading updates, but we all know the security risks if they don't
I think Microsoft have every right to protect their product and i for one hope it makes a difference . I don't , however , think that giving us genuine users IE7 is much of a reward.

It might lead to an upsurge in malware infestations as people continue to soldier on with their pirated Windows unpatched. That won't be good news for anyone. When you sneeze your neighbour can catch your cold.

Then the neighbour is just as careless by not protecting themselves properly.

To find out more about this update have a look at this. I have just gone to the Windows update site and was offered the update, which I accepted. As I understand it Microsoft will not allow ANY other download until this particular one has been installed. Be interesting to see what happens on the HJT forum when our experts ask the poster to download all the latest updates from Microsoft.

It's an enhancement of Genuine Advantage in that it will nag you constantly if your copy of Windows is dodgy.

I've had that update too. I'm glad my copy of Windows is genuine, I couldn't stand that constant nagging from balloons, banners and pop-ups!

There's no need to bypass it unless your copy of Windows isn't genuine. I hope that isn't the case with you?

I never said it was hard to by pass, .

anyone with a moderate computer knowledge could by pass it, I was just pointing out the fact that it was being installed.
I think microsoft should have made it a bit harder to get around.

Having just spent over £1,000 on my computer, my funds from my Saturday job at Sainsbury's dried out before I could get Windows and we had a 'spare' copy lying around the house.

Crap excuse I know.

It's becuase of people using illegal software that I have to pay through the nose for my software. I personally do not help people who's Windows or other software I know is illegal.

So why give it?
I dont want to start a witch hunt here but you have really annoyed me.
If i was running a shady copy of Windows id be so embarrassed id have to keep it to myself but you dismiss it with a cute little smiley as if to say "so what?"
Well, i run 3 pcs in my house and all three run legal copies of XP Home, im not rich,,,Just honest
