Hey, I have a Compaq Presario V5000 Laptop, and after loads of research on Windows XP x64, I upgraded my laptop. I have installed all my drivers in their 64bit format and everything seems to be running fine... except the fact that I can only get a 1024 by 768 screen resolution. Now as you can imagine, having a 15.4 inch screen, the .4 really does make a difference and a low res means that everything is pixelated. I do alot of graphics editing and so the extra space is cruitial.
I have the ATI® Radeon® Xpress 200M IGP graphics card.
Any ideas as to how to solve the problem?
All help greatly apreciated, Sascha Lopez

Have you downloaded and installed the 64bit drivers for your video card?

Compaq and HP tend to use their own version of video drivers. Go to the HP site here and use the Compaq drivers. That link might not be the right one so check your model number.

Only problem is, HP and Compaq don't seem to support x64. So I am kinda stuck with their site. I am not sure if it would be easier to go back to 32 bit....

Ok I tried using that nVidia tool, didn't work... but I finally found a fix for anyone who is also having this problem:
Go to Device manager (Right click My Computer, click Properties, Hardware, Device Manager), select your video graphics card, and right click it, click "update driver" click "No, not this time" (if it asks to check online), then click "install from list of specific location" then "Don't search, I will choose the driver to install" when given the list, take the tick out of "Show Compatible Hardware" Then click ATI from the Manufacturers menu and select the ATI Mobility Radeon 9600/9700 Series (Microsoft Corperation), and simply reboot.
