AS FAR AS know wmp 11 is going to be part of windows vista, will it be available as a standalone media player without vista when it comes out?

It should be available as an upgrade for XP users. Alhtough Vista has hit a delay, I'm not sure whether Polaris will be effected too.

Windows Media Player 11 in the link above, look a bit like a take off of Quicktime!

Blimey, I haven't even got WMP10 yet! I still use WMP9 as it's fine for watching DVDS and I don't often use it for anything else. Must upgrade one day. Madeline.

I upgraded to WMP 10 and had problems when I chose to use WMP to listen to a local radio station on-line, kept saying not enough memory, 256Mb RAM will do me for now, so it was uninstalled asap and for a while I went back to version 7.1 but have since upgraded to WMP9 without any problems so far.

WMP 10 was about to come out before I finally got round to upgrading to WMP 9 from WMP 8! Madeline.

I use WMP10 all the time, it will be interesting to what they think of as an improvement for WMP11!

How did you do that? When you go yo update it just downloads the newest version?

I can't remember now, it was quite a while ago. It was either through Windows Update or elsewhere on the Microsoft site. I'm sure I didn't do it through WMP itself. Madeline.

I use WMP all the time so I like it to be up to-date. I have over 200 hours of music on my computer, all of which is organised and played through WMP.
But there is no really significant differences between 9 and 10 so if you like 9 then there is no reason to switch.

I'm not going to switch. WMP 9 does all I need it to and getting WMP 10 would mean an 11MB+ download which takes over an hour on dial-up, so it would be a lot of time for little, if any, benefit. Madeline.
