ethenet connection
      #268271 - Sun Mar 19 2006 03:10 PM

Quick question for you. I need to add an ethenet connection to the back of my computer so that I can use a router for wireless conection between 2 computers. If I am right I need a ethenet pci adapter card (correct me if I am wrong)

What I would like to know - is it easy to connect one of these ethenet adpaters to the back of a computer. I have never added anything to the computer before so is it easy for a novice to do?
David

I will be surprised if your PC does not already have it as part of the motherboard or a card already installed.

See if you have a connector that looks like the one below.(it might not be at the bottom of the pc if its part of the motherboard , have a look close to the usb ports further up)

If you haven't then you can get one really cheap and to install follow the instructions here http://www.helpwithpcs.com/upgrading/install-pci-card.htm

It is really easy for any1 to do.
I have literally just finished doing the same thing, before you buy the adaptor card you might want to open up your computer to check what sort of connection you have. It will either be PCI (the most common) PCIe (new version of PCI aka PCI Express) or AGP (the older version which is now being phased out).

You simply push the pin connection into the correct port (which is literally the only place it will fit) and install the drivers.

Job Done.
